Fangirls and boys, we’ve all been there. I know you feel this pain. The pain of being introduced to a new fictional character, of growing to love them and become emotionally invested in their story, only to have them torn away from you tragically and unexpectedly. I am still haunted by the ghosts of beloved fictional characters I have lost, so grab your tissues, because here is my list of the fictional deaths I will never, ever get over!

One Tree Hill – Keith Scott

And Quentin Fields
I cried for a solid hour after that episode.
“People say Quentin Fields was a great basketball player. Graceful. Fluid. Inspiring. They say on a good night it almost seemed as though he could fly. And now he can.”

Up – Ellie Fredricksen
The opening ten minutes of this film just broke me.

Titanic – Jack Dawson
I’LL NEVER LET GO.

Harry Potter – Dobby, Fred Weasley, Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Hedwig, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks, James Potter, Lily Potter and, you know, FREAKING EVERYBODY.
J.K Rowling is just an evil genius. Made us all fall in love with these characters and then TORE THEM AWAY. Cruel and unusual.
And, let’s be real…

Marley & Me – Marley
No I’m not crying, its just allergies. I’m allergic to dying dogs.

The Lion King – Mufasa
Ruined my childhood. Ruined.

The Fault In Our Stars – Augustus Waters
Okay? Not at all.

The Hunger Games – Rue, Cinna, Finnick Odair, Primrose Everdeen
Don’t mind me there’s just a mockingjay in my eye, these aren’t big fat tears.

Les Miserables – Fantine, Eponine, Gavroche, Enjorlas and the students, Jean Valjean
EMPTY CHAIRS AT EMPTY TABLES WHERE MY FEELS WILL SIT NO MORE.

The Notebook – Duke (Noah) & Allie Calhoun
Ugly sobbing every single time.

Skins – Chris Miles
THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE A BABY AND BE TOGETHER FOREVER.
Shoutouts to Dan from Roseanne, Bambi’s mum, and everybody in Grey’s Anatomy ever, as well as an extra special mention for Glee’s Finn Hudson.
So there you have it, a list that has broken my heart over and over again during its creation. Whilst I cry for days, I would love to hear your thoughts – do you agree with my list? Who have I missed out?
Of course, there are some that are reborn…
