The Merc With A Mouth Breaks Another Wall: ‘Deadpool’ Movie Announced

Don’t panic. All those shrieks and screams you hear right now are from the Deadpool fandom.

After that “leaked” test footage that hit the net a few months ago, Fox finally decided to give green light to the project. So a Deadpool feature film will happen. And the fans are going crazy!

To those unfamiliar with this peculiar Marvel character, Deadpool (Wade Winston Wilson) is a mentally unstable mercenary and antihero who made its first appearance in New Mutants #98, back in 1991.

Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool has many powers and abilities, including accelerated healing factor, which unlike Wolverine’s, is mentally driven, meaning he is pretty much indestructible. He is also an expert in multiple martial arts, expert swordsman, marksman, and on top of that, he is multilingual. You know, in case you want to have a private conversation with him in Japanese or something.

Oh, and he is a sass master.

Ryan Reynolds will star as the masked anti-hero with Tim Miller in charge of directing this now-highly-anticipated film. Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are said to be in charge of the script.

This news not only shocked the fans in the most beautiful way, but it also meant Fox had to reschedule some of its projects: Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, has been moved from its August 7th date to no date at all, while the Fantastic Four reboot will now see the light in August 7th instead of June 19th. Meanwhile, the film adaptation John Green’s Paper Towns will be released on June 19th instead of July 31st.

Deadpool has been given a February 12, 2016 date.

So, what can we expect from it? I think: action, very clever dialogues, lots of sass… and many, many “breaking the fourth wall” moments, which I believe will be quite epic.

Basically so long as we don’t get Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then I think we will all be happy.
