Ay carumba! A first look at the upcoming crossover event between The Simpsons and Futurama has been released by EW, as well as super exciting new story details!

The episode, aptly titled “Simpsorama,” will see the Futurama gang attempt to stop Bart Simpson from causing a worldwide disaster. When the Simpson son blows his nose on a sandwich before placing it in a time capsule, where it is mixed with Milhouse’s rabbit’s food and some radioactive ooze, Bender ends up travelling back from the 31st century to attempt to kill Bart and avert the resulting global catastrophe. Of the epic crossover, creator of both shows Matt Groening told EW, “That was a really tough one to negotiate, because I had to talk to myself,” with Simpsons executive producer Al Jean adding, “We’re always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, ‘Well, what’s more compatible?’ We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer’s hair.”

Futurama was sadly cancelled by Comedy Central last year after seven seasons, but stars Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom and Tress MacNeille will all return for the special episode.

I will definitely be tuning in to see the return of the Futurama gang in the historic event, taglined as when “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes.”

“Simpsorama” will air on November 9 on Fox, following the Simpsons meeting the Family Guy’s Griffin family in “The Simpson Guy” on September 28, in what is proving to be a hugely exciting season of crossovers in animation.
