Hello and welcome back for Part IV of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (not so) masterpost. Today, the ALSA reported that donations have topped an astonishing $41.8 million! With $10.3 million received in the past 24 hours.
I don’t know what else to say. Humanity and the generosity of strangers is a marvellous thing to behold, and I am proud to bear witness to it.
I would like to start today’s list, with this video. It’s not a celebrity, or sporting personality or even someone famous, but it is one ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that you should watch. And at the time of writing this, almost 7 million people on YouTube have done just that. This is Anthony Carbajal, and he knows first hand what living with ALS is like. His grandmother and mother were both sufferers and at just 26 years old, Anthony was diagnosed as well. The video is funny, silly and full of laughs, but it’s what happens once the frivolity is over that really makes you understand. And cry. You will laugh and you will cry. And it’s heartbreakingly wonderful.
