Everyone who is missing Downton Abbey pay attention! Michelle Dockery, the actress who brought Lady Mary Crawley to our screens, has been cast in the new Alex Ross Perry film Queen of Earth.

Starring alongside Mad Men alumna Elisabeth Ross – whom I adored as Zoey Bartlet in the greatest TV series of all time, The West Wing – Dockery plays one of a pair of friends vacationing in a beach house. A psychological thriller, the indie film focuses on the detachment of the two women and subsequent paranoid delusions they suffer.

Sound interesting? It should, as writer/director Perry also brought us Listen Up Philip a few months ago; a smart, wickedly funny, dark little film and one of my favourites of the last few years. Listen Up Philip also starred Golden Globe-winning Moss, so Perry certainly knows when he is on to a good thing.

When not prancing around stately homes in a frock (for which she has been nominated for three Emmys and a Golden Globe), Dockery certainly keeps busy. She has just wrapped the Ryan Reynolds sci-fi thriller Selfless, which will open in early 2015; and was in the airplane adventure Non-Stop with Liam Neeson last winter.

No news yet on when Queen of Earth will hit our screens, but the next season of Downton Abbey returns this autumn.
