It seems as though co-writer and director of Frozen Jennifer Lee isn’t ready to let Disney go. She has just signed on to bring the classic children’s book A Wrinkle in Time to the big screen.
The Madeline L’Engle fantasy story tells the tale of two siblings and their friend who travel through time and other worlds to track down their scientist father.
A Wrinkle in Time was one of Lee’s favourite books as a child, and rather like Frozen, A Wrinkle in Time has a strong female led narrative. It also encompasses the science fiction world in a way which will be appealing and accessible to young children.
While Lee works on the project she will continue with her role as part of the story trust at Walt Disney Animation as well as staying active in other projects such as Big Hero 6.
No more details are known about the Wrinkle in Time adaptation yet, but that gives us great scope for speculation. Will it be CGI, or a return to the more traditional animation style like Frozen? Will it be musical? It might be live action, or wholly animated or even a mixture of both. I need the answers to these questions, along with a directors name before I can really say for sure whether I’m excited for the project but I’m inclined to think it might be a really exciting project for Disney to undertake.
