Pixar have released a brand new look at two of their upcoming projects!
Their next feature-length animated film, Inside Out, focuses on emotions living at a control panel inside 11-year-old Riley Anderson, and Disney have released a first look at Riley herself.
As expected, Riley seems to be the epitome of a classic, adorable little girl, reminiscent of the children featured in the Toy Story films, as well as characters such as Boo in Monsters Inc. Inside Out will see her move to a new school and new town, which obviously has a deep effect on her emotions – Fear (voiced by Bill Hader), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Joy (Amy Poehler), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Anger (Lewis Black).
To me, Inside Out looks to be one of Pixar’s most original and exciting projects in recent years, delving into the whirlwind that is the mind of an 11-year-old girl! The film opens June 19, 2015, and when it does premiere, a new Disney Pixar short, Lava, will screen ahead of the feature.
The 7 minute musical is a love story between two mountains, Uku and Lele, and Pixar have released a first look at main character, a lonely Hawaiian volcano named Uku.
Of the short, director James Ford Murphy told Yahoo, “We struggled with it a lot, but I feel like, once we were able to embrace the limitations of it, it unlocked all sorts of possibilities. I love that about animation: You can really make a mountain come alive. You can’t do that in another medium.”
Murphy also told the LA Times, “I thought it would be cool to fall in love with a place who’s also a character… I wanted to make Uku appealing and likeable but also look like he’s been carved out of lava flows,” and his passion about the project has really excited me for it!
As a huge Pixar fan, I am intrigued for what next year brings for this greatly successful animation studio!
