From the man that gave us Iron Man 3, comes a new film: The Nice Guys.

This film is written and directed by Shane Black. It is set in 1970s Los Angeles, following a pair of detectives investigating the apparent suicide of a porn star in decadence. This leads to the uncovering of a criminal conspiracy.

The summary given at the Austin Film Festival in 2011 read, “In smoggy 1970s Los Angeles, Jackson Healy (muscle-for-hire, recovering alcoholic) and Hollan March (private eye, practicing alcoholic) are brought together by the suicide of a fading porn star. Problem is, the dead girl’s aunt is convinced she saw her niece alive and well, AFTER the highly publicized incident. March needs money, takes the case-and within days, it’s blossomed into a far-reaching murder conspiracy, bizarrely rooted in smog and the U.S auto industry.”

Honestly, the story sounds quite interesting to me but you know what makes it even more interesting? The cast. Brace yourselves: Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe have been cast.

Now let’s take a moment to imagine which one of them will play the hired muscle of the story? I hope this thought will keep some of you awake tonight.

The last time we saw Ryan on the big screen was in Only God Forgives and Russell was last seen in Noah.

Warner Bros acquired North American rights to The Nice Guys, which will be produced by Joe Silver under Silver Pictures. There’s no word on when production will start but I hope it starts soon. I would love to see Ryan and Russell together on the big screen!
