Sarah Jessica Parker is set to return to our TV screens, starring in a new police crime thriller. The pilot will be based on the non-fiction book Busted: A Tale Of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love.
Phew! Let’s hope they cut that title down a bit!
Parker will play one of two female leads, Philadelphia Daily News reporters Barbara Laker and Wendy Ruderman, and the show will follow their efforts to uncover one of the biggest ever police corruption scandals.
In real life, the 2009 10-month series of articles in the Philadelphia Daily News entitled “Tainted Justice” earned them a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting.
Executive producer of the show, Carla Hacken described the story as amazing, and added that she was thrilled for it to be Sydney Kimmel Entertainment’s first television project.
“Sarah Jessica’s coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos is simply a perfect combination that we couldn’t be happier about,” she added in a statement.
More news about the project will be announced when the rest of the casting has been set.
