Fans of Mission Impossible, I have some wonderful news. Jeremy Renner has confirmed that he is returning to the franchise that took part in his meteoric rise to stardom. Yes, be excited because William Brandt is returning to grace our screens with equal parts humor, wit, and incredibly tight suit pants. Hmm, I can’t wait. Seeing as Ghost Protocol remains my favorite in the franchise, I am eagerly counting down the days until 2015.
While Renner’s camp hasn’t uttered a peep about his involvement in the new film, Renner himself spoke candidly to Yahoo recently regarding his possible involvement with HBO’s True Detective. In the interview, he stated that he’s “strapped time-wise doing “Avengers 2,” and “Mission: Impossible 5” is rearing its head, and then they want to do another “Bourne” movie.” If that isn’t a confirmation to not only MI5 but Bourne as well, I truly don’t know what is.
So, it sounds like Mission Impossible 5 is shaping up to be a reunion from Ghost Protocol. Simon Pegg has been confirmed as returning to the tole of Benji Dunn and, of course, Tom Cruise is back as the titular Ethan Hunt of the IMF. I hope they bring back Paula Patton as well as Ving Rhames. I miss me some Luther Stickell. Seriously. If anyone could rival Pegg’s wit, it’s Rhames. I’d pay big money to watch that hilarious showdown.
Mission Impossible is being produced by Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures. It is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and based on a screenplay by Drew Pearce.
Is it next year yet? No? Dang. I’m sure there will be more developments as we surge headfirst to 2015. So, stick with us, 4YEers. We will give the rundown as things come through the wires. In the meantime, here is Renner as Brandt in what is the funniest part of Ghost Protocol. Mission: Impossible : Ghost Protocol – “And I cat…: http://youtu.be/U9xGqlYCx8E
