Jake Gyllenhaal is set to make his Broadway debut later this year, in the US premiere of Nick Payne’s play Constellations.

The play was well received when it was performed in London’s West End with Rafe Spall and Sally Hawkins, and it explores the idea of a ‘multiverse’- parallel universes with differing possibilities in each one, where the central couple in the play can live in love and perfect harmony or in misery and despair.

Gyllenhaal has previously starred in another play by Nick Payne- If There Is I haven’t Found It Yet– off Broadway in 2012, and though his focus has mainly been on film, he did have an early success in 2002 with a London production of This Is Our Youth, by Kenneth Lonergan, and he has expressed a desire to return to the London stage once more.

Well, Jake, we’re ready when you are.
