The first TV spot has appeared for the upcoming Hercules film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Honestly, I don’t really have much to add. The video lasts 30 seconds, and the line “Are you only the legend or are you the truth behind the legend” pretty much sums up the films plot.
The movie tells the story of what happened to Hercules after he completed his Twelve Labours…
“Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend… Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.”
I don’t know if this film is going to be a hit, I do know that Dwayne Johnson put in an epic amount of effort to prepare for the role and it is directed by Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand) and they’re both positives. I’m just unsure if the story of Hercules after the Twelve Labours is something that people will care enough about to go and see at the cinema.
On the plus side, the soundtrack (based on past and present trailers) sounds amazing!
Hercules storms into theatres on July 25.
