To say the most recent Revenge finale was crazy would be a huge understatement. In the finale everything basically came to a head, and ended with events that the show has been working towards for three seasons.
The finale left the lives of Emily Thorne, the Graysons, Jack, Nolan Ross and everyone drastically changed, and set the stage for serious developments and drama for the next season. Naturally, we have a lot of questions about how all these plots that were hinted at in the finale will play out in the next season. So many questions. Like a lot. A lot of questions.
The biggest question? How does one rise from the dead?
On a less creepy note, while the biggest question is how did David Clarke fake his own death and how has he stayed hidden for so long while his daughter avenged his death, we have a lot more questions regarding all of the characters who we have become so drawn to.
Check out our five questions we have about the fifth season of Revenge below:
1) How is David alive and why is he back?
Although the creative team of the show has hinted that David could end up making an appearance in real time, nothing could really prepare Revengers for the reveal that David Clarke has been alive this whole time. He emerged from basically the dead to kill Conrad and avenge his name. This makes us wonder if he realizes that’s what his daughter has been trying to do for most of her life. Our biggest question is how did David fake his death and what does he have to gain with returning? We get the feeling David isn’t as innocent as we think, and that he is harbouring some big secrets of his own.
2) Is Conrad really dead?
After three seasons of waiting for Conrad to get what he deserves, it seems like the unthinkable has finally happened. Many probably rejoice at this death, happy that justice has been served. Conrad’s death is slightly(see: extremely) disappointing because, well, we will miss Henry Czerny’s incredible acting. He brought to life a character who we love to hate, who’s scheming and manipulations keep us on our feet. One must wonder if, especially on a show like Revenge, Conrad is really dead. If David did not do a thorough job disposing of Conrad, it’s expected he will return with a vengence, and every viewer of Revenge knows what happens when you mess with Conrad.
3) Jack? In jail because of Charlotte? Say it isn’t so!
The last we saw of Jack, he had touched Charlotte’s arm. This touch sparked some flashbacks and brought Charlotte to the conclusion that Jack was her kidnapper. What will this mean for their relationship and even more so, does this mean Jack is jail bound? We can only hope that David will stay hidden a little longer just to give her some time to help out Jack. Why does nothing good ever last for Jack? Poor guy. He just wanted to help Charlotte.
4) Nolan back in business?
The latter part of Revenge’s third season featured a lot more of Pascal drama and Emily’s revenge seeking and a lot less of Nolan. Nolan’s plot line with Patrick ended pretty badly, so it makes sense that Nolan would opt to do more behind the scenes work than field work. Especially because of Javier making his life more difficult, Nolan seemed to make sure things went smoothly for Emily, his work falling to the wayside. As per usual this is understandable, even though we miss Nolan in action now more than ever. Since Javier’s creepy social app fell through due to his collaboration with Daniel and Margaux, Nolan has taken matters into his own hands and joined forces with Margaux’s brother. We do see that her brother fights dirty so we wonder how this will play out next season. All we know is that we can’t wait for Nolan to be back in business and for him to be able to utilize his technological brilliance. Nolan is business saavy and it will be nice to see him in that environment again. Please let him have an office. RIP NolCorp.
5) Will Emily be able to keep Victoria committed?
Last time we saw her, Victoria Grayson was committed to a mental asylum. This seems like the best possible revenge. Death is too easy for Victoria, so Emily decided she would do to Victoria what she did to her mom. The only question here is, how long will Victoria stay put? Victoria is the queen after all and can’t be kept in a corner for too long. She is smart enough to create a plot that will get her out of the asylum so we can’t help but wonder how long Emily will be able to keep her locked up for and how Victoria plans on getting out of this predicament. There has been some speculation however that season four will feature Victoria as the narrator, and David Clarke being the main character. In Revenge, anything could happen.
