E3 is one of the most popular and highly celebrated gaming convention in the US. Currently held in Los Angeles, this week will be filled with exciting news from companies with upcoming game details, trailers, announcements, and other treats. Read on to see what happened today at E3.

Microsoft – 9 am PST, June 9th

Microsoft started the excitement off at E3 2014 with their media briefing called “Xbox: Game On”.

During this briefing, attendees got a lot of goodies including an inside look at previously announced games as well as trailers, to unannounced games that will be coming out later this year and next. Microsoft has also revealed that the hot seller Titanfall will also have a sequel, and Ryse: Son of Rome may possibly be releasing a sequel also. For casual gamers, there might be an online version of one of our favorite mobile games, Plants vs. Zombies Online, coming out in the near future.

The most exciting news of all for Xbox owners is Halo 5: Guardians. It is expected that there will be more news and information regarding the popular game title, so keep your eyes and ears open for that.

By noon, EA had taken the reins and held a press conference on their own selection of games that will be released. These highly anticipated titles include Sims 4, which I personally absolutely cannot wait for, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and EA Sports UFC. There has also been a rumor for EA to reveal the fourth installment of Mass Effect (Mass Effect 4). Fans can also expect to hear more about Battlefield: Hardline.

Ubisoft – 3:00 pm PST, June 9th

Ubisoft has taken a slightly different direction with their press conference at E3, focusing on actual details of what’s up and coming at E3. Starting off with Assassin’s Creed Unity, which will be the 7th installment to the game, Assassin’s Creed. “Set during the French Revolution, Assassin’s Creed Unity unfolds during a time of unimaginable terror and unprecedented turbulence – the perfect backdrop for the ongoing battle between the Assassins and the Templars.” said Ubisoft. The game will have a 4-player co-op mode available, which is something very unique that I have yet to see from other games. It will also the first Assassin’s Creed game to have a co-op mode.

Far Cry 4 has also been a highly anticipated game, and Ubisoft has made it clear it will be the launch platform for them at E3 this year. PC Advisor says FC4 will be set in “the Himalayan region of Kyrat and in an ‘entirely new era’.” Ubisoft also promises that the game will be much bigger and better compared to FC3, including new weapons, vehicles, wildlife and more.

Other titles which will be included in the line-up of games to show at E3 include: Tom Clancy’s The Division, which I am dying for, The Crew, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

Sony – 6:00 pm PST, June 9th

At 6pm, tech giant Sony took over and held a press conference with a focus emphasized on their big plans coming up this year, particularly for the PlayStation 4. PlayStation 4’s head of hardware marketing, John Koller, said,”It’s going to be a massive content year. We’ve talked publicly that there’s a huge and significant amount of games coming this year to the PlayStation 4. We’ll be showing a lot of those and it is going to be an exciting moment for many people. I can officially confirm that what is coming next is really spectacular. The types of games that are coming are absolutely fantastic. We’ve already talked about some of these already, but games like Destiny, which is the game from Bungie that is really going to be a show piece as to what makes the PlayStation 4 so special.”

Sony fans can also expect to hear more about Unchartered 4, PlayStation Now (PS4 service), as well as Sony’s virtual reality headset Project Morpheus.

Nintendo – 9 am PST, June 10th

To start off E3 tomorrow, June 10th, Nintendo plans to kick off the event with their “Digital Event”. Aside from Mario Kart 8 boosting sales like crazy for the Wii U, I’m certain everyone is aware that Nintendo has been quite quiet for a while now, and is curious as to what their next step is. More details on Super Smash Bros Wii U, Sonic Boom, Bayonetta 2, and a new installment of Legend of Zelda can also be expected.

Catch E3 live on Twitch tomorrow.
