In 1976 a little boy frightened the bejesus out of a generation, now he’s all grown up and heading to TV-land to do it all again… That little boy was Damien and the film was The Omen.
Set in modern day, the series will follow an adult Damien as he realises and faces his true destiny as that of the Antichrist.
The Omen tells the story of Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) and his wife Katherine. After their child dies at birth, Robert is persuaded by the hospital’s chaplain to secretly adopt a newborn whose mother died at the same time. Not telling his wife the child is not theirs, Robert and Katherine name the baby Damien.
What follows is a series of mysterious events that have those around the family concerned that Damien is not of this world.
Still in its infancy (no pun intended) the series is tentatively being titled Damien and is being developed for the Lifetime network. Former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara will pen the script and as yet, no casting information has been revealed.
Personally, I love, love, love the idea of this. I refuse to be a spoilery type of person and give away the ending, but for those that have seen the film (the 1976 original is the only one I consider to be “the film”, I choose to ignore the 2006 remake) you will no doubt be as eager as me to learn what comes after that final scene!
