Supernatural Spinoff Still On The Cards

A Supernatural spin off could still be a possibility according to Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW. Speaking on Thursday, as The CW unveiled its Fall lineup, Pedowitz said that despite the original spinoff, Bloodlines, failing to secure a pick up, he still believes there is “a really good brand in Supernatural,” adding “We know we want to develop once more for next season a Supernatural spinoff.”

Supernatural: Bloodlines aired as a pilot back in April, but the network passed on it. “We had six really good pilots this year,” Pedowitz said. “We felt that Supernatural (spinoff) just didn’t quite get there, though we do know that people would have come to it based on what we saw that night.” The show averaged more than 2 million viewers in live-plus-same-day.

Pedowitz went on to explain that discussions about what form the spinoff could take will happen around June/July 2015.

Despite the pass on Bloodlines, The CW seems to be strong on spinoffs for the Fall 2014/15 season, commissioning Arrow spinoff The Flash, and Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals.

The 10th season of Supernatural will air in the Tuesday 9pm slot after the series finished its biggest season in four years.
