Lana Del Rey has premiered the music video for her upcoming single, “West Coast”. The song will be the first single from her next album, Ultraviolence, which was previously rumoured to release this summer.
The black & white filtered video, which was directed by Vince Heycock, shows the songstress roaming on a Californian beach with her love interest. Footage from this video was used when the singer released the audio for the song on her YouTube account.
The video was accidentally published to VEVO’s YouTube two days early and was quickly removed from the channel. It was, of course, downloaded and spread on social media sites such as Tumblr despite it being taken down.
“West Coast”, which will be available in the UK to download on May 18, was co-written by Rick Nowels and Lana Del Rey in Nashville, Tennessee. Ultraviolence was produced by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys.
Lana recently spoke about the sound and status of her upcoming LP. She said: “The record is finished and it’s beautiful – it’s so wrong and exquisite… It is absolutely gorgeous – darker than the first.”
“West Coast” is currently available to download in the US. You can watch the music video below.
