It looks likely that we will be seeing Harry Connick Jr returning to American Idol next year after he hinted as much on Live! With Kelly and Michael.
At the Fox upfronts, held this week, Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly announced that while the new season of Idol will be cut down significantly, from 50 hours down to roughly 37, he is hopeful that all three judges will return, adding that it is looking “hopeful.”
Connick Jr wasn’t giving much away on Live! just simply declaring, “I’ll be back,” but it is now widely expected that he will take his place alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez in 2015, and possibly for one more season after that if Idol is renewed again.
Ryan Seacrest has also reportedly signed a new deal for next year too, though the current prediction is that while the season may start with the traditional two nights a week during the auditions phase, after that it will move to a once weekly two hour slot.
