Marvel’s domination of film and television continues with this latest casting announcement.
Ever since the announcement of Netflix, getting four Marvel television series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage) with plans to do a crossover miniseries event (The Defenders), fans have been eagerly awaiting casting news for these popular heroes.
The first one out of the gate (probably in apology for that godawful Ben Affleck movie) is Daredevil.
Now there has been a bit of a shake-up recently in regards to the series. Over the weekend, it was announced that Drew Goddard would be stepping down as showrunner to focus on The Sinister Six spin-off and will be replaced by Spartacus‘ Steven S. DeKnight.
Now, moving onto the good news of actual casting!
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox has been casted as blind attorney turned superhero Matt Murdoch.
Marvel and Netflix have not confirmed the casting of Cox as of yet. Official confirmation, however, is expected soon.
Cox is best known for his work as Owen on Boardwalk Empire and as Tristan Throne in the movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust. He is currently filming a role for the upcoming horror movie Dracula Untold.
I liked Cox as Tristan. So I’m excited to see what he brings to the table as Murdoch!
What do you think of the casting? Yay or nay?
