If you like electronic-pop and real-life stories, you will love this week’s ‘What To Listen To’ featured album. By Nicole by Frankmusik is a lengthy album jam-packed with some really great moments and vocal highlights. You may have heard his previous work from Complete Me, Do It In The AM and Between but don’t expect this album to be like them. By Nicole is a new direction for the London-born musician and it sounds like the best direction he has taken so far!
You may be a little bit tired of the constant hammering of club-inspired songs on the radio these days. By Nicole is a wonderful escape from that drone as it offers some seriously relatable tracks that contain some pretty literal lyrics. Don’t expect pretentious love songs with lyrics sugar-coated in boring metaphors. These songs are straight-up honest and to the point. The anger planted within these lyrics are aided by Frankmusik’s exceptionally powerful voice and range which is demonstrated throughout the entire work.
Frankmusik became popular with the UK-teen audience in particular thanks to his ability for writing really good musical and quirky electronic music. Songs like “Misdemeanor”, “Crash and Burn (feat. Natasha Bedingfield) and “Conclusions” are just some examples of his outstanding abilities as a writer as well as a vocalist. “Conclusions” also serves as the only real ballad on the album so it is really a very up-tempo and energetic burst of passion within 15 tracks.
