In news that should surprise no one, Warner Bros. president, Greg Silverman, has confirmed plans for a Justice League movie. The movie will come after Batman vs. Superman, the sequel to Man of Steel, which starts production next month. Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel, will direct the Justice League movie and Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot are expected to reprise their roles as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. No word yet on if Aquaman, Flash, or Green Lantern will be joining the team, although since it’s the Justice League, I would expect at least one of them to be in the upcoming movie. If Green Lantern makes an appearance, I’ll be surprised if Ryan Reynolds reprises the role, considering how ill-received the Green Lantern movie was.  Warner Bros. has been in the process of casting the role of Cyborg, a half-robot hero and Justice League member, who is expected to appear in Batman vs. Superman.

The movie doesn’t have a release date, as the script is still in development, but it’s likely to come out before 2018. Warner Bros. seems  intent on getting these movies out quickly after seeing how well the Marvel films have been doing.

I think with the right director and the right cast, a Justice League movie could be really good, just look at what Joss Whedon and the cast of The Avengers did. Only time will tell if they’re putting together all the pieces for a rival to The Avengers or something not so good.

What do you think? Are you surprised by the announcement that a Justice League film is coming our way?
