After the heartbreaking cancellation of Bunheads, Sutton Foster is preparing to take on her next television project.
TVLine reports that TVLand has put in an order of 12 episodes for the single-camera sitcom Younger.
Foster will star as Liza a 40-something single mother who revitalizes her career by passing herself as a 20-something in the publishing industry. Sex and the City creator Darren Star will be writing and executive producing the comedy. While, for those who want some nostalgia, Hilary Duff of the Lizzie McGuire fame will play Liza’s co-worker. Joining Duff is Entourage‘s Debi Mazar as Liza’s best friend Maggie and The Good Wife actress Miriam Shor will play Liza’s boss.
The series appears to be loosely based off of Pamela Redmond Satran’s book of the same name. I’ve read the book myself. It’s a fun read about a woman trying to reclaim her life and her own sense of self after being something else for so long. The show sounds like there will be more whacky hijinks. As a fan of Duff and Foster, though, I’m definitely in for giving the show a watch.
Younger is currently aiming for a Fall 2014 premiere.
