After the success of NBC’s live production of The Sound of Music earlier this year, it seems FOX took notes and have announced their own plans for a live show. What show are they planning? Why Grease of course!

The live event extravaganza is expected to be based on the 1971 Broadway musical written by the team of Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs as well as the 1978 feature film starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. Fun fact: Grease the movie is the highest grossing movie musical ever, picking up almost $400 million worldwide.

Shana C. Waterman, Senior VP for Event Series at FOX said “From Broadway to film, and across generations Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told—and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event”

Waterman then went on to say “Its iconic characters and addictive songs make it the perfect fit for FOX, and we’re going to give it the kind of star power and production quality to makes every Sandy, Danny, Rizzo and Kenickie out there want to get up and sing along”

You can bet your musical loving souls we will!

Now comes the question everyone wants answers to… Who will they cast?

It wouldn’t be an article of mine if I didn’t have an idea, thought or opinion or two about this would it? My Glee loving heart went into overdrive when I started thinking about casting for this. Of course I’m going to lead the charge for Darren Criss as Danny Zuko, and a big part of me would love to see Becca Tobin as Sandy. Then naturally there’s Matt Bomer for Teen Angel (in fact I think there’s already a Twitter campaign for that), and Naya Rivera for Rizzo. However, to step away from the Glee cast for a moment (gasp!) it was brought to my attention that Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) would make an awesome Kenickie.

Let’s not forget the T-Birds or the Pink Ladies as well, I’m in musical casting heaven right now!

Who’s your dream cast? Would you include any of the guys and gals from Glee, or would you rather see some young, up and coming hopefuls take the stage? Hit up the comments or tweet me at @4YE or @MsPhenom and let me know your ideal cast for this, what I am sure is going to be epic, Greasextravagnaza!
