Not one, but two trailers have arrived for the highly anticipated (or maybe that’s just me) latest foray into the world of horror films, Deliver Us From Evil.

Released a day apart, the first was released for US audiences, the second, and in my opinion the better of the two, was released for the international market.

Based on the 2001 novel Beware the Night; Deliver Us From Evil stars Australia’s Eric Bana as Ralph Sarchie, a sixteen year veteran of the NYPD. Struggling with personal issues Ralph joins forces with an unconventional priest (Édgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, and together along with Ralph’s partner (Joel McHale) they investigate the seemingly random demonic possessions that are happening all over the city.

If that alone doesn’t sound delightfully terrifying, perhaps I could kick it up a notch and tell you that that the novel the story it’s based on, is in fact a real life account from the very real Ralph Sarchie, who was in fact a real police officer out of the 46th Precinct in New York’s South Bronx.

Might I suggest watching the US trailer first, just to get yourself acquainted with the basic premise of the story. Once you’ve got that down, prepare yourselves for a recitation of The Lord’s Prayer while the international trailer scares the bejesus out of you.
