The cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier have been touring the world promoting their much-hyped film with great interviews and photo calls. Details of extended film deals with Marvel have been unveiled and several questions have been raised, such as the possibilities for solo movies, especially for a certain spidery bad ass (and no, I’m not talking about Spiderman).
While nothing regarding future movies have been revealed, outside of actor Sebastian Stan’s blunder telling of his nine picture contract with Marvel, Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff actress Scarlett Johansson has expressed interest in seeing her character’s growth in a standalone movie.
She tells reporters: “If you want to see a Black Widow spin-off movie, then I want to see it. […] We’ll see. We will put the request in to Marvel tomorrow.”
Rumors of a Black Widow film have been floating around since 2010, with Marvel Cinematic Universe president Kevin Feige confirming the development of the idea just last month. The solo film would explore and hopefully shed light on the Black Widow’s convoluted and enigmatic past, her history with Hawkeye, and perhaps we will finally find out once and for all what really happened in Budapest.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will premiere in UK cinemas March 26th and in North American screens April 4th.
