The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, though they seem a lot more grown up than the version I watched as a kid, and more kick-ass than ever.

In a brand new trailer released ahead of the live-action movie, the heroes in a half-shell star alongside Megan Fox as reporter April O’Neil, and William Fichtner as Shredder.  The movie brings the characters to life through motion capture, and we can look forward watching Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo and Danny Woodburn starring as Splinter.

The supporting cast includes Will Arnett as April’s cameraman Vernon Fenwick, and Whoopi Goldberg as Bernadette Thompson.

The Turtles started life in 1984 in a comic book by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and went on to become huge thanks to the tv cartoon version. Turtle mania was everywhere, and though their popularity has subsided somewhat, they still have a very loyal fan base who will no doubt be eagerly anticipating this movie.

Produced by Michael Bay, with Jonathan Liebesman directing, the film will open in cinemas on August 8 in the US and October 17 in the UK.
