Pictures have been released of Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan on the set of upcoming film Suffragette. The pair were spotted in full period costume during a break from filming in London. Streep will play political activist Emmeline Pankhurst in the drama while Mulligan stars as Maud, a fellow member of the feminist movement.
Helena Bonham Carter was also spotted on set but it is not yet known which role she will be playing. The film also stars Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff, Brendan Gleeson, Ben Whishaw and Samuel West and will focus on the suffragettes who lobbied hard for women’s right to vote.
Written by Abi Morgan, who wrote biopic, The Iron Lady– also starring Meryl Streep- and directed by Sarah Gavron, Suffragette is due for release in 2015.
