Will Aaron Paul Break Any Top Gear Records As He Takes A Spin In The Reasonably Priced Car?

A month into the 21st series of BBC show Top Gear, and the calibre of the stars in the Reasonably Priced Car just keeps getting better.

We have already had Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, singer James Blunt and some unknown actor called Tom Hiddleston (keep an eye on that one, we think he might go far!).  However on March 2, Hollywood is coming to the Top Gear track.  Aaron Paul, star of cult favourite Breaking Bad is taking the Vauxhall Astra for a drive.

I am a massive fan of the BBC show and love it when American stars come and try out the Reasonably Priced Car.  This is for two reasons, one is because the stars are always a little bit shocked at what host Jeremy Clarkson will say, and also getting to see US stars who are usually used to driving an automatic car taking the manual transmission car for a spin is always good for a laugh.

Paul’s lap could be different to those of the last three weeks for the reason that the wet weather seems to have tailed off, however what the weather will be like on Wednesday, which is when the show tapes, remains to be seen.  Bonneville, Hiddleston and Blunt all drove in wetter and even wetter conditions, which meant that their laptimes were way slower than they should have been.  Let’s hope that Paul can beat them all as he will have actually had a drier track.

I am always struck by how invested all the celebrities are by what time they manage to achieve on the track, with the now customary lean forward towards Clarkson as he tells them their time.

Here is the current leaderboard.  Where do you reckon Aaron Paul will end up, top, middle or bottom?

1:45.1 – Brian Johnson
1:45.6 – Jimmy Carr
1:46.1 – Hugh Jackman
1:46.7 – David Haye
1:46.8 – Warwick Davis
1:47.8 – Benedict Cumberbatch
1:48.5 – Rachel Riley
1:48.8 – Charles Dance
1:48.9 – Joss Stone
1:49.4 – James Blunt (FW)
1:49.9 – Tom Hiddleston (VW)
1:49.9 – Ron Howard
1:50.1 – Hugh Bonneville (W)
1:51.0 – Steven Tyler

Aaron Paul’s lap will be shown on March 2 at 8pm on BBC Two, and will air in the US on March 10 on BBC America.
