Supernatural lovers far and wide are waiting with anticipation and anxiety over the soon to come Supernatural spin-off: Tribes. Based in the windy city of Chicago, the story is said to surround five families of monsters who run the town, and the man turned hunter, who has sworn revenge against monsters of all kinds.

The newcomers will be introduced into the Supernatural world in episode 20 of season 9 where the main character of Tribes, Ennis Roth, meets up with Sam and Dean after someone close to him is murdered, presumably by the monsters he now swears vengeance against.

Here’s an up close look at the new characters we will be seeing in the very near future.

Ennis Roth: Star of Tribes, Ennis is the son of a police officer who decides to follow in his father’s footsteps. On his way to the police academy, tragedy struck and someone close to him is murdered. Enter Sam and Dean, to teach Ennis “the staggering truth” that Chicago is ruled by five families of monsters.

David Hayden: A 20 something shape-shifter of one of the five families in Chicago. Forced to give up his “human” life and is drawn back into the family life by a tragedy.

Margo Hayden: Sister to David, Margo is described as “professional, strong-willed, determined, ambitious”. Punk rocker turned corporate mogul, Margo is determined to gain control as the new head of the family in the wake of this tragedy. She is also in her twenties.

Violet Durant: Werewolf and member of the wealthy and powerful Durant family. Violet craves a forbidden love in the form of David Hayden, but knows their families would never accept it.

Julian Durant: Ennis’ arch nemesis and brother to Violet, Julian is described as “savagely handsome, strong, arrogant”

Freddie Costa: Human, cop, and an old pal of Ennis dad, Freddie is a worn down cop, but he has a soft spot for Ennis. But Freddie has a secret he’s been keeping….

While I find the particulars and the base summary to be fairly interesting, especially the “monster mafia families” in Chicago, I’m not sure how I feel about the Romeo & Juliet scenario. Supernatural has little to none in the romance/relationship department, so it will be something to have to get used to.

Casting is still in progress and they are looking for an African-American in his early 20s to play Ennis. Anyone have any thoughts as to who you’d like to see play the part? I know that I’ll be tuned in with episode 20 airs to see how this all plays out!!
