One was a member of one of the UK’s biggest boy bands of all time, has had a stellar solo career with an eclectic musical style and a love/hate relationship with the British press. The other is an Aussie larrikin who is equally as comfortable belting out a showstopping number as fighting for mutant rights and survival. If they had teamed up it would have been ear-gasmic and it was almost a reality.
Having already teamed up with Kylie Minogue (“Kids”) and Nicole Kidman (“Somethin’ Stupid”), Robbie Williams had another Aussie voice in his sights for a duet on his latest album, Swings Both Ways.
“I love Hugh Jackman, I really want to work with Hugh Jackman and I wanted him for the Swing album but he was between Wolverine and his next blockbuster,” the “Angels” singer said.
While he wasn’t able to lock Jackman in this time, Swings, his 10th studio album, is packed with his famous mates including duets with Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Olly Murs and Michael Buble.
Williams is currently in Australia for a promotional visit to announce the Australian leg of his Swing Tour. Check out the videos below from his appearance on the TODAY Show this morning (February 20).
