He’s back! The Aussie darling of stage and screen announced today that he would be returning to host the 68th Tony Awards. And how does The Boy from Oz make such an announcement? The dapper young gent takes to social media of course, posting the following video to his Instagram account with the caption “Couldn’t wait another minute… @TheTonyAwards @CBS #4thTime #Broadway #TheTonyAwards TonyAwards.com”:
Jackman can’t contain his excitement and neither can we here at 4YE. This will be the Tony Award-winning actor’s fourth time hosting Broadway’s big event (the same number of times other popular host Neil Patrick Harris has done the gig) and almost a decade since he last took the reins back in 2005. Jackman certainly knows how to work a crowd and with his singing, dancing, and larrikin sense of humour, 2014 will be one to remember.
Jack Sussman, executive VP special, music, and live events at CBS Entertainment described Jackman perfectly, saying “We are thrilled to have Hugh Jackman return to host the Tony Awards. Hugh is the ultimate performer — actor, singer and dancer — he does it all, second to none. He is a consummate entertainer and the one you want out there hosting your live television event.”
The nominations for this year’s Tony Awards will be announced on Tuesday April 29, with the ceremony taking place at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday June 8.
