We were not prepared! Coldplay have pulled a Beyoncé and just sprung new music on us without warning. We’re not complaining though, new music from this UK band is always welcome. Coldplay have released their new track, “Midnight”.
The last piece of new music that Coldplay shared with us was their track “Atlas” which was written for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack from December of last year. However, on their official website, the “Paradise” hitmakers published a music video (directed by Mary Wigmore) for the new song.
Even performance-wise, we haven’t seen an awful lot from Coldplay, but all of that is set to change very soon! They are set to perform at this year’s South by Southwest in Austin, Texas and they will also be joining Imagine Dragons as they are playing a set on the first night of the iTunes Festival at SXSW. The event, which is the first time the iTunes Festival will be held in the US, will take place March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre.
Coldplay haven’t released an album since their 2011 success, Mylo Xyloto, which sold over a whopping 8-million copies. They are also apparently working on what is to be their 6th studio LP. We cannot wait to hear their new work and welcome them back to our audio devices!
