The main thing you need to know about the new Transformers: Age of Extinction footage is this: Optimus Prime is riding a Dinobot while wielding a sword and it is amazing!

By far one of the most exciting and talked about trailers to air during the Super Bowl, the Transformers 4 footage gave us plenty of director Michael Bay’s signature action. There are robots fighting robots, a Transformer parachuting through the air and of course explosions all over the place. We also see the series’ new star, Mark Wahlberg, running for his life and trying to protect his daughter (Nicola Peltz).

While we have never come to expect much from the Transformers films in terms of story, the action and effects are more than enough to get audiences excited. Really just the Dinobots with their glowing red eyes and general awesomeness would be enough. (Anyone wanting a more detailed analysis of the bots featured in the trailer should check out GMA’s excellent article.)

For those interested in the film’s plot however, here’s what we know: Four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, an inventor, Cade Yeager (Wahlberg), inadvertently activates a piece of Cybertronian technology. Now he has to contend with government agents, an alien bounty hunger, and a ton of giant robots in disguise while trying to protect his daughter Tessa (Peltz) and her boyfriend Shane (Jack Reynor).

Transformers: Age of Extinction, set for June 27 release, is said to be serving as a soft reboot to the franchise.
