Fans of Glee’s Amber Riley were given a special Valentine’s Day and early birthday (Amber turns 28 tomorrow, February 15) present this morning with the release of her cover “Leave A Light On” through Soundcloud.
Though the song is a cover of British-Irish girl band, The Saturday’s 2013 pop ballad hit, it was written by Riley, Lisa Scinta and Jordan Omley and her connection to the song can’t be denied.
This kind of music suits Riley’s style and though you don’t get the runs and embellishments that she’s known for in the big belting numbers she’s performed on Glee, this more dance-pop version of the song shows another side of Riley’s vocal arsenal and though the catchy chorus is now on loop in my head, I’d love to see more of this style of music from Riley.
Have a listen for yourself below:
Riley took to Twitter thanking her fans for their support and promised that an album of her original work would soon be coming… can we expect to see “Leave A Light On” as one of the tracks? I certainly hope so.
However, the gifts may not stop there as an hour later, Riley posted the following tweet:
I may release another one tomorrow ☺️
