Many may recognize Adam Driver as Hannah Horvath’s quirky, sex obsessed boyfriend Adam Sackler from Girls, but according to Huffington Post Driver may be making the switch from dramedy to sci-fi. That’s right, reports are saying that Driver might play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.
Although no deals have been set, Variety reports that the actor is very close to signing the contract to play a character “in the vein” of Darth Vader. There had been a slight delay in the decision making process, due to scheduling conflicts between future instalments of Star War and future seasons of Lena Dunham’s Girls.
The Girls actor is currently high in demand; future projects of his include Warner Bros.’ Midnight Special, This is Where I Leave You, the Shawn Levy HBO pic which will wrap this fall, and is also attached to Martin Scorsese’s Silence alongside Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson. If this is true, then we have our first new cast member for the newest installment in the Star Wars franchise.
